Last night saw the return of the Festival Internazzjonali tal – Kanzunetta Maltija (International Festival of the Maltese Song) after an 11 year break; and the winner was none other than 2007 Eurovision Song Contest representative Olivia Lewis.
14 acts took the stage at MCC in Valletta including some past eurovision Maltese participants which are Miriam Christine (1996), Roger Tirazona, Fiona, Janvil, Domenique, Mark Tonna and Dario Bezzina. In the end, it was Olivia Lewis who took the trophy with the song ‘awn mill- Ġdid written by Paul Abela and Joe Julian Farrugia. Only 3 points defined the winner from the second place, trophies were awarded to the top 3 songs:
- Olivia Lewis – Hawn mill- Ġdid (Paul Abela, Joe Julian Farrugia)
- Mark Tonna – Poeta bla kliem (Mark Scicluna, Emil Calleja Bayliss)
- Dario & Grecia – Solitaire (Dario Bezzina, Rita Pace)
On the other hand the international section of the event showed the German group Bella Vista the winners, who sung Fremd aber doch vertraut, a German version of the song Sa L-Aħħar by Fabrizio Faniello.
