Canada is officially embarking on its Eurovision Song Contest journey! National broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada have today launched the search for the country’s inaugural representative, inviting Canadians to participate in selecting their first-ever artist for the competition. This marks a significant milestone as Canada prepares for its debut at Eurovision 2027.
Following the confirmation of Canada’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, CBC/Radio-Canada has opened submissions for artists interested in representing the nation. This exciting development comes after CBC/Radio-Canada became a full member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in June 2026, making Canada eligible to compete.

Artists are encouraged to visit the dedicated portal at cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/eurovision for full eligibility and participation requirements. Notably, artists applying do not need to have a song already written, as CBC/Radio-Canada plans to collaborate with top industry talent to develop the entry.
A shortlist of finalists will be announced later this autumn, with the ultimate decision on Canada’s representative for Eurovision 2027 to be determined by a combination of a public vote and an expert music industry jury.
Hence Canada will first select the singer and then the song that will represent it at Eurovision 2027 in Burgas.

Following the submission period, CBC/Radio-Canada will determine a shortlist of finalists that represents the diversity of Canada’s music scene. Finalists will be announced during the autumn.
Canadians will then get to have their say on which of the finalists they want to represent Canada in the Eurovision Song Contest. This will happen through an online vote. Videos featuring each artist will be posted on the Eurovision Song Contest Canada website. The public vote will then be combined with a review from a music industry jury to determine which artist will represent Canada at its first Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.
For Canada, this historic first participation represents a unique opportunity to showcase the richness and diversity of our musical, cultural, and artistic identity, and the exceptional creativity of our artists from coast to coast.
CBC Canada’s official press release reads:
CBC/Radio-Canada invites all interested Canadian artists and their representatives to submit their entries on the registration portal between August 31 and September 9. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 18 and older. All eligibility and participation requirements will be available on the portal.
Following the submission period, CBC/Radio-Canada will determine a shortlist of finalists representing the rich diversity of Canada’s musical talent. Finalists will be announced this fall.
Canadians will then have their say on which finalist they want to represent Canada in the Eurovision Song Contest through a digital vote. Videos featuring each artist will be posted on the Eurovision Song Contest Canada website.
