The Eurovision community is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of legendary Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, who has died at the age of 75. Known for her distinctive husky voice and powerful ballads, Tyler proudly represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013.

Bonnie Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, captivated audiences worldwide with her unique vocal style. Her career spanned decades, delivering a string of iconic hits that became anthems for many.

Among her most famous songs are the timeless power ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart, which topped charts globally, and the equally epic Holding Out for a Hero. She also found early success with ‘It’s a Heartache‘ in 1977.

Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for. We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.

Eurovision Journey

In 2013, Bonnie Tyler took to the Eurovision stage in Malmö, Sweden, representing the United Kingdom with her song ‘Believe in Me’. Her participation was met with excitement and anticipation from fans across the continent. While she finished 19th in the Grand Final, her performance was memorable, and the song earned recognition, winning categories in the Eurovision Song Contest Radio Awards.
