SRG-SSR, the Swiss national broadcaster, has unveiled further details on the Eurovision 2025 Turquoise Carpet, which will the longest one in the history of the competition.

A special media event was held in Basel today organized by the 2025 Eurovision host broadcaster SRG-SSR in order to shed more light on the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Switzerland.

SRG-SSR has unveiled more details on the ESC 2025 Turquoise Carpet in Basel.

The 2025 Turquoise Carpet will see the 37 competing acts will walk from the iconic Basel Rathaus (City Hall) through to the Market Square, they will then board vintage trams that will transport them to the Basel Messe. They will be accompanied by a grand line up of entetainers and performers as they make their way to Basel Messe, namely to the grand Eurovision Village stage where an audience will be awaiting.

SSG-SSR’s official press release reads:

On Sunday 11 May, the Eurovision adventure will begin with a special moment for fans from home and abroad, the acts and the entire public. The Opening Ceremony will begin, officially kicking off the ESC week. The 37 delegations will walk over a turquoise-coloured carpet across the market square, accompanied by cheers from fans and the sound of their songs. There they will be met by vintage trams, which will take them to the exhibition site at walking pace. Accompanied by entertainers in a wide range of different styles – including Basel drummers and pipers, an excerpt from the Carnival of Basel, dance ensembles, school classes, Guggenmusik, alphorn players and techno acts – the route through the city will become a euphonious parade.

The parade will start around 2 pm. Visitors can experience the spectacle live along the route for around two hours. From approx. 3:15 pm, the first delegations will arrive at the large stage in the Eurovision Village at Messe Basel, where an audience will await them. This will be a free highlight of the week for the public.

 

The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on the 13, 15 and 17 May at the St.Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland.
