Finland’s Eurovision 2018 representative Saara Aalto gave an energetic guest performance at last Sunday’s final of Eurovizija 2018 in Lithuania.
Since Saara Aalto and her entry Monsters were chosen to represent Finland at Eurovision 2018, both singer and song have been lauded for their modern sound and evocative symbolism. Yet following Saara Aalto’s winning performance at Finland’s selection UMK, there was also some criticism concerning her stage act, which apparently did not meet everyone’s expectations.
Being vulnerable to public scrutiny is a given for any artist, but Saara Aalto shows professionalism by turning any negativity into positive vibes: performing Monsters once again during Lithuania’s national selection final, she managed to convey exactly why her entry is such a strong contender.
Choreographer Brian Friedman presented a more stylized stage presentation for Eurovizija 2018, with more focus on Saara Aalto’s vocals. The performance was lauded in the Finnish and Lithuanian press, as Saara Aalto’s inner stage monster is peeking out of the closet, ready to throw the door wide open and own the stage in Lisbon – and there might be some surprises yet to come for Portugal.
