Excitement for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2027 is building as Finnish broadcaster YLE announces that tickets for the national selection show will go on sale this Thursday, 1st October. Furthermore, the broadcaster has started to tease fans with the first hints regarding the seven selected competing artists.
Fans eager to secure their spot at Finland’s biggest music show, UMK 2027, should mark their calendars for Thursday 1st October. This is when tickets for the highly anticipated national final will become available, offering the first opportunity to be part of the live experience in Tampere. YLE received a total of 481 songs for UMK 2027. The Finnish national broadcaster has already selected the lucky seven acs for UMK 2027.

The increasing interest of artists in UMK is directly reflected in the fact that the task of our judges is becoming more difficult every year. The quality of this year’s song candidates shows that Finnish songwriting represents the very best in the world.
YLE has confirmed that a total of seven artists have been chosen to compete in UMK 2027, following a rigorous selection process that saw hundreds of song applications submitted. These seven acts will battle it out to earn the right to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
In a move that will undoubtedly fuel speculation among Eurovision enthusiasts, YLE has also begun to release initial hints about the identities of the chosen artists. While specific details remain under wraps for now, these early teasers are sure to spark discussions and predictions across social media as fans try to decipher the clues.
The UMK27 artists will be announced in January. Tapio Hakanen shares the following tips about the upcoming artists:
- A band with an international sound and goals abroad
- A duo with a club sound
- Dramatic and pompous song
- An artist who appeals to a wide variety of audiences
- An anthem spiced with distorted guitars
- An artist who shows off a new side of himself with a dance banger
- A song where the kantele melody grows to epic proportions
The artists participating in UMK will be announced during a live TV broadcast on Wednesday January 13 2027 at 19:00 CET. on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena.
The artists’ songs and their music videos will be released one per weekday from January 14–22, 2027.
UMK has grown significantly in popularity over recent years, consistently delivering a high-quality show and strong contenders for the Eurovision stage. The upcoming edition in Tampere promises to continue this tradition, and with tickets going on sale and artist hints emerging, the road to UMK 2027 is officially underway.
