Entry number three is here! The Czech Republic has selected their act for Eurovision 2018, with Mikolas Josef receiving the highest amount of votes within the nation and therefore competing in Lisbon with the song Lie to me.

The votes are all in and counted; we now know the Czech Republic’s representative for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest!

Confirming the return of the country’s national final following 10 years absence last month, ČT – the Czech national broadcaster – revealed the names of the 6 finalists set to bid for the right to represent the nation in Lisbon.

Over the weeks to follow, ČT asked viewers to vote for their favourite acts of the competition via the official Eurovision app, however only the votes of the Czech viewers would be counted in the final results.

Whilst the public determined 50% of the vote, the remaining 50% of the vote was decided via an international jury vote. The jury consisted of 10 members, all of whom were former Eurovision participants from past years.

Czech winner determined!

Following last week’s announcement that Mikolas Josef had won the international jury vote, receiving 68 points, voting remained open for the public to select their favourite act of the competition.

The votes have now been combined, with the winner of Eurovision Song CZ being unveiled earlier this evening during the ČT news channel.

With the news now out, we now know that Mikolas Josef will represent the Czech Republic at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Lisbon, competing with the entry Lie to me.

The full results are expected to be unveiled in due course.

The Czech Republic will compete in the first half of the first semi-final of the 8 May; can Mikolas Josef bring the country back to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest this May?
