SBS, the Australian national broadcaster has announced today that it will be revealing the name of the 2017 Aussie Eurovision representative on Tuesday 7 March. The 2017 Eurovision Australian entry will also be premiered on the same day!

Last May, Australians watched on from across the world for a nail-biting finish in Stockholm, Sweden, as Dami Im soared on the stage with anything but a Sound of Silence, to be crowned Eurovision Song Contest runner-up.

Now comes our chance for Australia to do it all again, at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine this May.

The Australian artist chasing Eurovision glory at the world’s biggest song contest is about to be announced, on Tuesday 7 March.

For the first time ever, Australia’s artist and song will both be revealed at the same time, in an intimate live performance at a secret location in Melbourne, hosted by SBS’s Eurovision commentator, host, expert and enthusiast Julia Zemiro.

The artist reveal will be broadcast LIVE on SBS Facebook from 5.30pm. (Australian time)

Australia in Eurovision

Australia was invited to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 when the country debuted in the competition with Guy Sebastian in Vienna. The Aussies have had an excellent kick off in the contest as they have placed 5th and 2nd in their 2 year ESC history.

Australia will be participating in the competition for the 3rd time. Mind you, they nearly walked away with the crown last year in Stockholm with Dami Im’s Sound of Silence! What does the country have in store for us this year?….

Keep guessing!

Who will be lucky Australian hopeful to  follow Dami Im’s footsteps at the forthcoming 2017 Eurovision Song Contest next May? There are lots of potential names on the table: Kylie Minogue,  Samantha Jade, Isiah Firebrace, The Veronicas, Dannii Minogue, Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy. Nathalie Imbruglia, etc….. ?

Who will it be? Will a group, male solo or female solo take the stage? Is the song Australians will be belting out in their living rooms an upbeat party anthem, or emotional power ballad? All will be revealed, Tuesday 7 March.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled on 9, 11 and 13 May at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
