One of the happenings of Hannukah in Israel is the musicals, with dozens of musicals going on stage around December-January. This winter, Hovi Star (Israel 2016) and Mei Finegold (Israel 2014) will participate together in The little mermaid musical.
After finishing 14th in the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Hovi Star has managed to perform in various pride events around the world and he currently sings in the shows of Tzvika Pick (Composer of Diva, Israel 1998) along with Noa Kirel.
The rehearsals for The little mermaid musical have not started yet, and it will be the first time that Hovi will be an actor, in the role of ‘The sea star’ – the storyteller. Mei Finegold, who has a rich history of musical acting, will get into the role of Urusla the witch. Back in 2014, along with the preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest, we met her during rehearsals for the musical Kazablan:
Hovi and Mei have previously participated in the seventh season of Kochav Nolad (A star is born), the Israeli idol-equivalent, in 2009. Their duet of Red me’al masach hatelevizia sheli (Go off my TV screen) was declared as one of the best duets in the history of the competition:
