Italian superstar Marco Mengoni, who represented his country at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with L’essenziale, has released Liberando palabras, his first Castilian Spanish language album.

Marco Mengoni, who will play a show at the Teatro Barceló in Madrid on 25 May, gave an interview to the Spanish magazine Lecturas about his exciting new venture, in which he declared himself to be feeling; happy and at the same time, very nervous… I always get nervous before going on stage!

Asked about his connection with Spain, Mengoni answered:

I like (Spain) very much… Look into my family roots and I’m sure there is some Spanish ancestry.

Marco Mengoni rose to fame following victory at the third series of the Italian X Factor 2009. His journey has seen him win the Sanremo Music Festival in 2013, represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, scoop a plethora of music awards and amass a huge European following. Still just twenty-seven years of age, Mengoni speaks about his fame:

..if everything goes wrong, I’ve done what I wanted. My intention is to live life on the edge…

I’m very attached to my roots. I have always been the same, both with and without money… My parents and grandfather made me who I am.

Marco Mengoni describes his Eurovision Song Contest experience as; amazing… I found it all like a dream, and credits his legions of faithful fans; they give me an incredible force.
