The deadline to submit songs for the Slovene national final EMA is set to 21 December at 23:59. Interested authors may send up to two compositions to the contest. A committee will then select up to 12 songs that will participate in the national final.

Foreigeners might submit compositions as long as a Slovene is one of the authors of the song. RTVSLO reserves the right to invite additional authors or artists to the competition. Submissions can be made via the online form here.

As in this year, EMA 2016 will be made of one show with two rounds of voting: During the show, an expert jury will select the top 2 entries that will go on to the superfinal, where televoting will decide which of the two entries will go to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

Maraaya represented Slovenia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, ending up 14th and giving the country its second best placing since the semifinal system was introduced in 2004.
