VRT, the Belgian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that it will be revealing the names of the 5 Eurosong 2016 candidates on Monday 16 November.

The names of the 5 hopefuls will be revealed next Monday during the Peter Van de Veire Show aired on Belgian Radio MNM at around 8:00 am in the morning. A press conference will follow at 11.00 where the 5 acts will be officially presented to the Belgian press.

VRT will be organizing a national selection for Eurovision 2016 in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Stockholm.  A total of 5 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Sweden.

This year  Loic Nottet was selected via an internal selection to represent Belgium by French speaking Belgian broadcaster RTBF. He flew the Belgian flag at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry Rythm inside, achieving an honorable 4th place in the grand final.

In 2014 VRT was in charge of selecting the Belgian entry and act for Eurovision. Axel Hiroux won Eurosong 2014 and went on to defend the Belgian colours with his entry Mother.

Belgium is one of the founder members of the Eurovision Song Contest having debuted in the contest in 1956. The country has won the competition once, namely in 1986 with Sandra Kim’s J’aime la vie.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
