Thunderstruck

23-year-old Erlend is best known to the Norwegian public as the winner of the first ever series of Norske Talenter back in 2008. His debut single, which was first performed at the show’s final, was a cover of the Anouk (Dutch representative in 2013) track, Lost, and hit the number one spot in Norway’s singles chart. The album that followed reached number two in Norway’s album charts and was nominated for two prestigious Norwegian music awards.

Erlend decided to step down from the limelight in 2010 and to resume his studies of hairdressing. He soon graduated from hairdressing college and since then has been working in a salon.

But in late 2014, Erlend made a much-anticipated return to music with the release of Silent sister, his first single in six years. The announcement of his participation in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix came soon afterwards.

Erlend will compete at MGP with the song Thunderstruck. It was written by Swedish couple Joy and Linnea Deb, the duo behind Robin Stjernberg’s You, which won Sweden’s Melodifestivalen in 2013, as well as Ace Wilder’s Busy Doin’ Nothin’, which was narrowly beaten into second place by Sanna Nieslen and her song Undo at Melodifestivalen 2014. Joy Deb and Linnea Deb are represented at the year’s Melodifestivalen by Måns Zelmerlöw and Heroes.

Recently Erlend spoke about his participation by releasing a statement on his website:

“It is a great honor to be part of Norway’s biggest song contest, I think this is gonna be a fantastic journey!” – Erlend Bratland
