FYR Macedonia: Doubts over Eurovision Song Contest 2015 participation

MRT, the Macedonian national broadcaster, is seeking the opinions of the country’s citizens about their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.

A poll on MRT’s website is asking whether the country should re-introduce the Skopje festival to select their entrant (their national final format from 1996-2002 and 2008-2011), if they should stick with an internal selection or if the public feels that the country doesn’t need to participate in the contest.

As of this evening the latter option is leading the poll by a significant margin, casting doubts over the country’s participation at next years contest.

This comes after FYR Macedonia has failed to reach the final in six of the last seven years, including at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 where Tijana Dapčević finished in 13th place in the second semi-final.

The country has a mixed qualification record in the contest, having reached the final on five occasions and missing out six times. The have, however, made the top ten in the semi-finals seven times but missed out on the final in 2008 and 2009 because of the jury wildcard.

Do you think FYR Macedonia should compete at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015?
