Italy: Music award win for Emma and Marco

Emma Marrone and Marco Mengoni, who have both represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, have both received awards at the 2014 Italian Music Awards.

On the 3 June, the eighth edition of the Italian Music Awards took place. Formerly known as the Wind Music Awards, the annual Music Awards event takes place to recognise big Italian stars whose singles and albums have achieved either a gold, platinum or multi-platinum certification in the last 12 months. Music Awards 2014: Emma Marrone & ModàArriverà

Numerous Italian artists received recognition for their musical achievements over the past year including two former Eurovision artists – Marco Mengoni (2013) and Emma Marrone (2014). Marco’s 2013 album #PRONTOACORRERE – Il viaggio and Emma’s 2013 album Schiena vs schiena both received a multi-platinum certification.

As well as receiving awards for their achievements, both Emma and Marco performed at the event where they performed their own singles. Marco performed his single La valle dei re which was released earlier this year in March whilst Emma performed 2 songs at the event – Arriverà (Sanremo 2011) alongside Italian group Modà as well as her 2014 Eurovision entry La mia città.
