North Macedonia is set to make its highly anticipated return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. This exciting news has been confirmed by Zoran Ristoski, the Director General of Macedonian Radio Television (MRT). The announcement was made during a recent public session, bringing joy to fans across the nation.

North Macedonia to re-join the Eurovision family

After a four-year absence, North Macedonia is officially planning its comeback to the Eurovision Song Contest. The country’s national broadcaster, MRT, has confirmed its intention to participate in the 2027 edition of the competition.

The confirmation came directly from Zoran Ristoski, the newly appointed Director General of MRT, during a public session held recently. His appointment to the role was announced on April 23, 2026, following a procedure in accordance with the Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services. Ristoski’s declaration signals a positive shift for fans who have eagerly awaited the nation’s return to Europe’s biggest music show.

North Macedonia last participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, when Andrea represented the country with her song “Circles”. They subsequently withdrew from the contests in 2023, 2024,2025 and 2026 primarily citing financial difficulties and the increased costs associated with participation. Despite their absence from the main contest, MRT has continued to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest for its viewers, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the event.

The decision to return for Eurovision 2027 aligns with previous reports from December 2025, which indicated MRT’s aim for a comeback in that year. The broadcaster’s Program Council has also expressed a desire for North Macedonia to rejoin the contest, recognising the important platform it provides for national affirmation and cultural promotion.

Further details regarding North Macedonia’s selection process for Eurovision 2027 are expected to be announced by MRT in due course.
