Latvia: LTV confirms participation in ESC 2016!

LTV, the Latvian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Latvia will compete in the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest next year.

Thus Latvia is the 6th country to confirm its participation in next year’s Eurovision edition. We have barely left the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest behind in Vienna, preparations for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden are in full swing! Latvia joins Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Finland and host country Sweden in the list of countries which have confirmed their participation in 2016 so far.

Latvia made headlines this year with their Eurovision entry Love Injected. The country is back on the Eurovision map making it to the grand final in Vienna and thus achieving an honorable 6th placing.

Aminata won Supernova 2015 and was awarded the golden ticket to represent Latvia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. LTV is yet to reveal the format and mechanism it will use to select its Eurovision entry and act for ESC 2016. More details regarding the 2016 Latvian Eurovision project will be released in due course.

Latvia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with Brainstorm‘s My star. The country has won the event once in 2002 with Marie N’s I wanna, and got the chance to host the contest on home soil in Riga in 2003.

The preliminary dates for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest have been set on 10, 12 and 14 May.
