Dutch public broadcaster NPO has published a press release today unveiling further details on the 2020 Eurovision Host City Bid Process.

A tale of nine cities

Nine cities have officially applied to host the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in The Netherlands next year. Today the applicant cities have received the criteria that must be met in order to become a host city. The following cities/regions are vying to host the competition in 2020:

The Ideal Host City

The cities now have four weeks to hand in their bid books to the organization. In this document, municipalities must explain why they are the ideal host city. The cities will be assessed, among other things, on the available location, capacity, accomodation, infrastructure and technical facilities and accessibility.

Host City Announcement in August

Cities have until Wednesday July 10 at the latest to submit their proposal. Other interested cities or regions can still apply until that day. All proposals will then be assessed by the organization in the hands of the NPO, AVROTROS and NOS. The broadcasters strive to announce the final choice of host city in August.

The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest will be co-produced by three Dutch public broadcasters AVROTROS, NOS and NPO in liason with the EBU.

The dates of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest are yet to be confirmed and unveiled.
