Spanish national broadcaster TVE and Edurne are all set to conquer Europe next May, when 39 countries will take the stage at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna.
Edurne has been selected via an internal selection in order to represent Spain at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna next year in May. The Spanish broadcaster will air both semifinals on TVE2 on 19 and 21 May, whilst the grand final will be aired on TVE1.
Yet again Spain has opted for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision representative as was the case in 2012 with Pastora Soler and in 2013 with El Sueño de Morfeo.
The 2015 Spanish Eurovision representative was officially presented to the Spanish media yesterday at the TVE headquarters in Madrid. Ignacio Gomez- Acebo- TVE’s Programme & Strategy director conducted the press conference and introduced Edurne to the assembled press. Mr. Ignacio Gomez Acebo told the press that TVE is going to try its best to bring the contest back to Spain next May, hence the broadcaster is very keen to win the competition. They have decided to go internal and select Edurne to fly the Spanish flag in Vienna, as they are very confident with the Spanish artist and her entry. TVE believes in Edurne and is confident that she will make Spain proud come May.

Both Edurne and TVE’s Mr. Gomez Acebo commented that the 2015 Spanish Eurovision entry Amanecer is something that Spain has never been to Eurovision before and they hope it stands out in the competition next May. Edurne says she wants to do something innovative and never seen before. Regarding the staging and the style of the song Edurne didn’t reveal any details, thus keeping it a secret for Eurovision fans.
Edurne promises that she is going to work very hard with her Eurovision entry, performance, choreography and staging and her priority in the coming months will be Eurovision, Eurovision and Eurovision!

Edurne will have the honour of defending the Spanish colours at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next May. She will sing Amanecer in Vienna, a song that has been produced by none other than Tony Sanchez Ohlsson, the author of the 2007 and 2012 Spanish Eurovision entries ( I love you mi vida (DNASH) and Quedate conmigo (Pastora Soler) and the Swedish dream team Thomas G:son and Peter Bostrom. Both G:son and Bostrom were the composers of the 2012 Swedish winning entry Euphoria. Thomas G:son has been behind many Eurovision entries in the past years: the 2007 and 2012 Spanish entries, the 2010 Danish Eurovision entry, the 2001, 2006 and 2012 Swedish Eurovision entries and the 2007 Norwegian Eurovision entry.
The 2015 Spanish representative will sing her Eurovision entry entirely in Spanish in Vienna. She describes Amanecer a modern pop melody. The 2015 Spanish Eurovision entry and its official videoclip will be recorded in the coming weeks and is expected to be released soon.
The Madrid born artist is she very happy and honoured to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovsion Song Contest. Regarding her Eurovision entry she has said that she fell in love with her Eurovision entry Amanecer, from the minute she heard it. Amanecer touched her heart, hence because of this song she decided to go to Eurovision. She is very grateful and thankful to TVE for giving her the chance to fly the Spanish flag in Vienna. She is very enthusiastic and looking forward for 23 May. Participating in Eurovision is one of the biggest highlights of her musical career. Both Edurne and her team along with TVE will be working very hard and round the clock in order to showcase a magnificent and extraordinary staging and performance in Vienna.
Jose Maria Iñigo will be the commentator for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest yet again. He was TVE’s commentator at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
About Edurne
Edurne shot to fame in Spain in 2005 when she competed in the 4th season of the popular talent show Operacion Triunfo aired on private Spanish television channel Telecinco. She achieved a 6th place in the show and has gone places since her Operacion Triunfo days. She has released a total of 5 albums and has gained much name, fame and recognition in Spain both as a singer and tv host. She has participated in various television shows in Spain and is much appreciated among the younger generations.
Edurne is currently working on her forthcoming album with Tony Sanchez Ohlsson. It will be Edurne’s sixth album and will be released by Sony Music Spain.
The story so far
In 2014 Spain opted for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Copenhagen. Ruth Lorenzo won the 2014 Spanish national final with her entry Dancing in the rain and achieved an honorable 10th place at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest grand final.
Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has participated at every Eurovision edition since then. Spain has won the contest in 1968 with Massiel and 1969 in Salome. Spain has not missed even one contest since its debut in 1961 and has competed in the contest religiously every year since its debut year. Spain has competed in Eurovision 54 times.
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
