German broadcaster NDR has announced that it will reveal the names of the 7/8 acts that will compete in the 2015 German Eurovision national final-Unser Song für Österreich on Wednesday 14 January.

A total of 8 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Vienna in the 2015 German Eurovision national final, scheduled to be held at the TUI Arena in Hannover on 5 March. 7 acts have been selected via an internal selection by NDR whilst the 8th act- the Wildcard will be chosen on 19 February. 10 acts will battle for the Wildcard at the Wildcard final (Clubconzert final) in Hamburg on 19 February.

In 2014 NDR opted for a national final in order to select their Eurovision act and entry. Elaiza won the 2014 German Eurovision national final and won the right to represent Germany at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with their entry Is it right?.

Germany debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest  in 1956 and was one of the founder members of the contest, having won the event twice in 1982 with Nicole’s Ein Bisschen Frieden and in 2010 with Lena’s Satellite. Germany has only missed participating at the Eurovision Song Contest once, in 1996, when they missed out in the preselection round. After that it was decided that the so-called Big 5 countries get an automatic entry to the final every year.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadhalle in Vienna, Austria.
