Tinkara Kovač, last year’s Slovenian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2014, will play a concert at the Teatro Stabile Sloveno in Trieste, Italy on Saturday 20 December.

The Teatro Stabile Sloveno is the most prominent cultural institution of the Slovenian national minority in Italy, and the only professional public theatre in Italy to perform in a minority language.  Check out their official Facebook page.

Tinkara was also an ambassador for the Galá delle Donne, an international festival of female voices which took place at Italy’s Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine on 25 November 2014.  The festival, which comprised of seven singers from seven different nations, was held in collaboration with A.N.D.O.S. , an association that provides care and support for women who have undergone breast cancer surgery.

An accomplished flautist, Tinkara Kovač represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2014.  Her entry Round and Round, which was sung in both English and Slovene, qualified for the Grand Final of the Copenhagen-staged competition, finishing in twenty-fifth place.  Watch her Grand Final performance below:

Slovenia has participated at the Eurovision Song Contest twenty times since debuting in 1993.  The country’s best results have been seventh place finishes for Darja Švajger (Prisluhni mi, 1995) and Nuša Derenda (Energy, 2001).  Slovenia’s national broadcaster RTVSLO has confirmed that they will be present in Vienna next year.
