RTBF, the French speaking Belgian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Loïc Nottet will represent Belgium at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna next year.

RTBF has yet again selected its Eurovision representive via an internal selection. The broadcaster is yet to announce the mechanism it will opt for in order to select the 2015 Belgian entry.

Loïc Nottet is one of the finalists the last season of the Belgian version of the The Voice. In 2013 RTBF selected its Eurovision representative Roberto Bellarosa, winner of The Voice Belgium Season 1. The 17 year old has won the hearts of the Belgian audience with his cover version of Rihana’s Diamonds during his participation in The Voice Belgium. The young and talented singer has just signed a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment Belgium.

RTBF will hold a special press conference at the end of November to officially present the 2015 Belgian Eurovision representative and the 2015 Belgian Eurovision project. The Belgian broadcaster will be revealing more details at the end of the month.

RTBF and VRT are the 2 Belgian national broadcasters that compete at the Eurovision Song Contest, thus participating alternately every other year. In 2014 VRT opted for a national selection Eurosong 2014– in order to select its 2014 Eurovision entry and act. Axel Hirsoux won the 2014 Belgian Eurovision national final with his entry Mother and flew the Belgian flag in Copenhagen. Despite a great peformance he failed to qualify to the grand final.

In 2013 RTBF selected its 2013 Eurovision act Roberto Bellarosa via an internal selection. He represented Belgium at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with his entry Love kills achieving a 12th placing in grand final.

Belgium debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, thus being one of the founding members of Europe’s favourite television show.  Belgium has won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 with Sandra Kim’s J’aime La Vie. In 1987 Belgium successfully hosted the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest in Brussels.

The country has participated in the contest every year since its debut only missing out due to relegation in 1994, 1997 and 2001.
