Simon Webbe, who represented the United Kingdom as part of the boy band Blue at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, will be taking to the dance floor this autumn to take part in BBC’s Strictly come dancing.
He joins the likes of former rugby player Thom Evans and The Saturday’s Frankie Bridge, who have also been confirmed to be competing in the twelfth series of the completion.
After being announced as one of the fourteen celebrities in the line up, he said that he was looking forward to taking part in the show,
I am so happy to be joining the team and I cannot wait to get started. I’m hopeful that Strictly come dancing will help me to improve on my dady dancing skills. I want to make my daughter proud and no doubt she will be teaching me a pirouette or two along the way.
Simon finished 11th at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 as one of the four members of Blue, with their entry I can.
The UK is the joint-second most successful country in the Eurovision Song Contest having won it on five occasions since their debut in the second edition of the contest in 1957.
Their most recent victory came in 1997 when Katrina and the Waves won the contest with Love shine a light.
