BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Belarus will most likely participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria. An official confirmation is yet to be made by the Belarusian broadcaster regarding their participation next year.

The method and mechanism BTRC will use in order to select their Eurovision entry if they participate is yet to be determined. The Eurovision team and creative team of BTRC are currently evaluating and working on the format they might opt for in order to select their entry, if they are compete . More details and information regarding Belarus and the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be disclosed in due course.

Hence a total of 16 countries have confirmed their intention to participate at the 2015 Eurovision  Song Contest:  FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Estonia.  Whilst Montenegro and Belarus have stated that they are  most likely to enter the competition next year.

The official list of participating countries at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be released by the EBU at the end of the year. The deadline for countries to submit their application to  compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set to 15 September, enabling the host broadcaster ORF and the EBU ample time to prepare for the forthcoming contest.

The 2015  Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May in Austria.

In 2014 Belarus opted for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision representative and entry. Teo won the 2014 Belarusian national final and flew the Belarusian flag at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in  Copenhagen with his entry Cheesecake, achieving a 16th place place in the grand final.

Belarus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best result in the contest was in 2007 with Koldun‘s Work your magic, when Belarus placed 6th.
