Greece: NERIT confirms participation in Eurovision 2015

NERIT, the national Greek broadcaster has confirmed to ESCTOday.com that Greece will  participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria.

The method and mechanism that Greece will use in order to select its Eurovision entry is yet to be determined. The Eurovision team at NERIT  are currently evaluating and working on the format they will opt for in order to select the 2015 Greek Eurovision entry. More details and information regarding Greece and the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be disclosed in due course.

Hence a total of 17 countries have confirmed their intention to participate at the 2015 Eurovision  Song Contest: Greece,  FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Estonia.  Whilst Montenegro and Belarus have stated that they are  most likely to enter the competition next year.

The official list of participating countries at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be released by the EBU at the end of the year. The deadline for countries to submit their application to  compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set to 15 September, enabling the host broadcaster ORF and the EBU ample time to prepare for the forthcoming contest.

In 2014 Greece opted for a national final in order to select its Eurovision entry and representative. Freaky Fortune feat. RiskyKidd won the golden to Copenhagen with their Rise Up, achieving a 20th place in the grand final.

Greece has enjoyed massive success in the Eurovision Song Contest in the last decade accomplishing excellent results, achieving a total of 10 TOP 10 results since 2001, including a victory in 2005. Greece has competed in the Eurovision  final every year since the semifinals system was introduced in 2004.

Greece debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and has won the event in 2005 with Helena Paparizou‘s My number one, thus bringing the contest for the very first time on Greek soil in 2006.

The 2015  Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May in Austria.
