Burgas Airport is actively preparing for the influx of visitors expected for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which the city is set to host. With a significant daily passenger capacity, the airport is ensuring it can efficiently manage the increased traffic. This comes as Bulgaria prepares to welcome the contest for the first time.
Following Bulgaria’s victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with Dara’s ‘Bangaranga‘, the host city for the 2027 edition has been officially confirmed as Burgas. As the excitement builds, Burgas Airport is already making extensive preparations to accommodate the thousands of fans, delegations, and media expected to arrive for the event.
According to reports from Bulgarian national broadcaster BNT News and official statements from the airport, Burgas Airport boasts a robust operational capacity. It is designed to handle peak demand, capable of processing approximately 50,000 passengers per day. This capacity is deemed more than sufficient to manage the significant increase in air travel associated with an international event of Eurovision’s scale.
The airport management, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, is engaged in continuous discussions with various airlines and partners. The objective is to further develop the route network, attract additional services, and increase flight frequencies specifically for 2027. While the Summer 2027 flight schedule has not yet been finalised or published, new routes and specific airline programmes are expected to be announced gradually as plans are confirmed.
Burgas Airport has consistently demonstrated strong international connectivity, serving over 70 international destinations in 2026 alone. Its existing infrastructure, coupled with its impressive operational capacity and ongoing efforts to enhance its route network, positions it as a crucial gateway ready to welcome the world to Bulgaria’s Southern Black Sea coast for Eurovision 2027.
