TVR, the Romanian national broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest, revealed today that a total of 150 valid entries had been submitted to take part in the Romanian national final Selecția Națională.

159 entries were originally submitted to the broadcaster, however after a thorough check of all the submitted songs, 9 entries were ruled as invalid. Over the coming days (Wednesday and Thursday), an expert jury will listen to all of the submitted entries and after a deliberation, 12 entries will be shortlisted to compete in the Romanian national final Selecția Națională.

A number of European composers have submitted their entries to the selection including composers from the following countries; Belgium, Greece, Italy, Norway and Spain. Amongst the artists who submitted their entries to TVR include former Eurovision participants Paula & Ovi who previously represented Romania in 2010 with their entry Playing with fire.

The Romanian national final Selecția Națională 2014 will take place on the 1 March at the Sică Alexandrescu Theatre in Brasov. Romania will then compete in the second semi-final at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest on the 8 May.
