The 64th edition of the Sanremo Song Festival will kick off tonight and will air live at 20:30 CET on Rai 1.

The 2014 Sanremo Song  Festival will consist of 5 shows that will air everyday starting today up to the grand final on Saturday. The contest will be presented by Fabio Fazio and Luciana Littizzetto.

The Show

There will be two sections, the Campioni (Champions) section and the Nuove Proposte (New Proposals) section. The Campioni section consists of 14 artists that will perform 2 original entries each. On the other hand, the Nuove Proposte section will consist of 8 new artists that will perform 1 original song each.

Raphael Gualazzi, who represented Italy in Düsseldorf in 2011 and reached second place, will be competing in the Campioni section.

This year, Italy will be represented by Emma Marrone with La mia città on 10 May in the Grand final.
