Tonight the selection process for the Icelandic representative in Copenhagen begins, with the first semi-final being aired tonight on their national broadcaster, RÚV.

The Show

Five of the ten acts hoping to represent Iceland in May will take to the stage and perform their songs.  The top three acts will progress to the final, which will be televised on the 15th February, and the other two acts will be eliminated from the competition.  The voting in the semi-finals will be entirely televoting.

Iceland will compete in the first half of the first semi-final on 6 May 2014.  They debuted in 1986 and their best result to date is second place, both in 1999 and ten years later in 2009.  They finished in 17th place last year with the song Ég á líf.
