Tonight the second heat of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2014, the national selection for Finland’s Eurovision Song Contest entry, will air on their YLE, the Finnish national broadcaster.
The remaining six contestants who are yet to perform will take to the stage tonight, looking to join last week’s heat winners, Softengine, in the UMK 2014 final.
The show
In tonight’s heat the six other finalists will perform their entries live to the public for the first time. Like last week only one song will win a guaranteed place in the grand final, four of the contestants will progress to the semi-final, which takes place next week, and the contestant finishing in last place will leave the competition.
The Finnish public has been voting since the beginning of the week and will have a 50% say in the outcome. The expert jury, comprised of Aija Puurtinen, Toni Wirtanen, Redrama and Tomi Saarinen, will mark each song out of ten and their scores will make up the remaining half of the vote.
Finnish rapper, Musta Barbaari, will be performing during the interval.
