As reported previously on esctoday.com, IBA, the Israeli broadcaster, will hold an internal selection in order to select the Israeli artist, while a national final will be held, where the public will choose its song for ESC 2014.
Today, the Israeli news portal mako has reported that IBA is currently asking various artists for representing the mediterranean country in Copenhagen. Among the artists who refused to represent Israel are Roni Dalumi, Raz Shmueli and Kathleen Reiter, who withdrew from the Israeli selection last year, right before the final round.
Ninet Tayeb and Marina Maximilian Blumin, who are represented in the same company as Roni Dalumi, did not get an invitation from the commitee, which means that they are not in the list of the possible artists.
So which artists are in the run? Most likely artists like Maya Buskila and Hen Aharoni, who show interest every year in taking part, and already said yes to the committee. Julietta and Vladi Bleyberg, who both took part in last year’s preselection, are also an option.
When the committee will have a final list of interested artists, one will be chosen, and a song selection will be held. The selection will include one or two songs that the artist will provide, and another one or two from the public. Finally, three or four songs will be shown as videoclips shown online and on TV, and the public will vote and decide which song will represent Israel in May. The song selection is scheduled to take place in March.
