RTVA, the Andorran national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that Andorra will not participate at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest next May in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Andorran broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that due to financial reasons and a tight budget the broadcaster has decided not to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest. Hence we will not see Andorra return to Eurovision next year.

The fact that the tiny microstate, which is nestled between France and Spain, has never qualified for the Eurovision final may also have influeced the country’s withdrawal from the contest. Andorra has been absent from the event since 2010, thus missing out on the contest for 5 consecutive years( 2010, 2011,2012, 2013, 2014).

Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of Andorra’s debut at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Andorra debuted at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with Marta Roure‘s Jugarem a estimar-nos  and has competed at the Eurovision Song Contest until 2009 when  Sussane Georgi represented the country with La teva decisio.  Andorra is yet to win the contest. The country never qualified to the Eurovision final, having taken part in the competition 6 times.

Will Andorra return to the Eurovision Song Contest? Only time will tell…..
