France: Jean Gabilou celebrates 50 years of career

Gabriel Lewis Laughlin, better known as Jean Gabilou, who represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 in Dublin, is celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of his music career. To mark to event, the singer gave an exceptional concert in his native French Polynesian island of Tahiti, a few days ago.

Jean Gabilou ranked 3rd in 1981 with Humanahum behind Germany’s Lena Valaitis and the UK’s Bucks Fizz who won the event. His strong voice and charisma made the singer one of the most prolific and appreciated artists in the Pacific region. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his music career, Jean Gabilou gave an exceptional concert in Papeete, performing his best songs in French, English and Tahitian, including his Eurovision entry, and singing along with some well known artists in the region who are good friends of his such as John Rowles from New Zealand, Melveen Leed from Hawaii, and the Polynesian artists Patrick Noble, Rataro, Tapuarii, Sabrina and Nohoarii.
