Dutch singer Glennis Grace has won a prestigious award.
Glennis Grace, the Dutch representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, won the title Best Female Singer at the annual Sterren.nl Awards.
The awards, run by radio station Sterren.nl, were started six years ago both to celebrate Dutch popular music and to encourage new performers and writers. It’s the third year in a row Glennis Grace has won in her category.
I am delighted and honoured to receive this award, said Glennis. I want to thank everyone for voting.
There were four nominees for Best Female Singer alongside Glennis. These included Ruth Jacott and Sieneke, both of whom have represented the Netherlands at Eurovision in 1993 and 2010 respectively.
Glennis Grace did not make it past her semi-final when she represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song, My impossible dream. She has since released five albums, including One night only in 2011 and This is my voice in 2012, both of which reached the number two spot in the Dutch album chart.
In May this year, she was announced as the face of CHI Silk Infusion keratin shampoo and conditioner.
Viewers in the Netherlands will be able to watch Glennis being presented with her award at 16.50 this coming Sunday 16 June on Nederland 1.
