SMRTV’s general director has called for the EBU to organize juries at the Eurovision Song Contest.

During the Sammarinese television show Serenissima, which was aired tonight at 9 pm on the satellite channel of San Marino RTV, the General Director of SMRTV Mr. Carlo Romeo stated that in order to avoid rumors regarding jury voting in the Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU should organize the national juries itself, avoiding broadcasters to take part in the selection of the jurors.

Every year rumours about jury voting spread on the internet. EBU receives a lot of criticism regarding the the voting method and for potential opacity of this or that country. Maybe we should turn the Eurovision Song Contest  into a more modern and transparent contest by organizing the national juries – which represent 50% of the final vote – keeping out the broadcasters from the organization‘- Mr Carlo stated during the television show.

San Marino debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008  with Miodio and is yet to win the contest. The landlocked country is yet to qualify for the Eurovision final, yet again this year their representative Valentina Monetta missed out qualifying to the final achieving a 11th placing in semifinal.
