Suspilne Ukraine confirms the nation’s participation in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, set to be hosted by Bulgaria. The broadcaster has also officially opened the call for entries for its highly anticipated national selection, Vidbir 2027. Ukraine aims to continue its strong presence on the Eurovision stage, using the contest as a vital tool for cultural diplomacy.
Ukraine to compete in Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria
Ukrainian national broadcaster Suspilne has officially announced Ukraine’s participation in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest. The prestigious event will take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, following the country’s victory in the 2026 contest with Dara’s song ‘Bangaranga’.
Ukraine will once again select its representative through its established national selection, Vidbir. Suspilne emphasises its commitment to ensuring Ukrainian performers can present their songs and that viewers can choose the artist who will best represent the nation on Europe’s biggest music stage. Despite the complex security situation and potential challenges of the winter period, the broadcaster affirms its dedication to the selection process.
Vidbir 2027 applications are now open
The call for entries for Vidbir 2027 has officially commenced. Aspiring artists and songwriters can submit their applications from 15 September to 2 November 2026, inclusive. The winner of Vidbir 2027, who will go on to represent Ukraine in Burgas, will be announced in February 2027.
The format of Vidbir will be carefully developed, taking into account prevailing security risks and the logistical considerations posed by the winter season. Suspilne highlights that Ukraine’s continued participation in the contest serves as an important tool for cultural diplomacy, providing an opportunity for the community to unite in support of Ukrainian culture and young artists.
Dmytro Shurov (Pianoboy) has been appointed as the music producer for Vidbir 2027, he has great experience when it comes to the Ukrainian national selections for Eurovision.
