Dutch singer Anouk has returned home to the Netherlands where she told journalists she was happy with her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.
The singer was surprised and delighted by the number of fans waiting for her when she touched down at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Sunday afternoon, a day after the competition.
She told the crowd of fans and journalists she understood why Denmark’s Emmelie de Forest had claimed victory at the competition the night before, but that she herself had been more impressed by this year’s entries from Russia, Ukraine and Greece.
Anouk’s self-penned song, Birds, finished in ninth position at the grand final of the Eurovison Song Contest in Malmö, Saturday 18 May 2013. She was the first Dutch entrant to reach the grand final in nine years. We wanted to be in the Top 10 and we succeeded, she said. It’s crazy, right?
