Maltese songwriter Ray Agius, withdrew one of his entries for Malta Song for Europe 2006, Take a break, thus giving way to the 51st song to replace it. The new addition is Carm Fenech and his daughter, June May's entry Can't Help.

Songwriters of songs which made it to the list of 50 semi-finalists in Malta but had to change singers (due to the rule that singers could only keep the 2 entries which gained them most points), were also given the choice to withdraw their songs completely from the competition.

As it happened in the last two years, Mr. Ray Agius, the composer of Maltese Eurovision entries in 1995 Keep me in mind and in 1997 Let me fly, opted for a complete withdrawal of one of his Malta Song for Europe 2006 entries rather than changing its singer.

In the meantime, Maltasong Board announced that the second phase of eliminations for the Malta Song for Europe 2006 will be held on Saturday 17th December 2005 at the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel, St. Julians.

A press conference to announce the finalists will be held at 19:30 CET at Vivaldi Hotel, after the adjudication process is terminated. Esctoday will cover the details given out during Maltasong's press conference with a full coverage shortly afterwards.
