Italy-Spain: Marco Mengoni jury member in Spanish Eurovision Song Selection Show

TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster has informed and confirmed to esctoday.com that Marco Mengoni the 2013 Italian representative will be on the jury panel of the 2013 Spanish Eurovision Song Selection show ( El Sueño De Morfeo- Destino Eurovision).

Marco Mengoni will be flying to Barcelona next Tuesday 26 February  where he will be joining Rosa Lopez ( Spain 2002) and Jose Maria Iñigo ( TVE Eurovision commentator  2011, 2012) on the special jury panel at the forthcoming Spanish Eurovision Song Selection Show. Marco will play a key role in selecting the Spanish Eurovision entry for Malmo ( a 50/50 jury- televoting deliberation will decide the song that El Sueño De Morfeo will sing next May).

Marco Mengoni, was announced as the 2013 Italian Eurovision representative during the 2013 Sanremo Festival final. He won the 2013 Sanremo Song Festival. He is among the most sought after singers in Italy today. His victory in the famous Italian song festival has given much mediatic attention and exposure to Marco. His winning entry L’Essenziale has achieved more than 2  million clicks on the VEVO channel on youtube.

Marco’s victory last Saturday has caused a mediatic frenzy in Italy since last Saturday, most of the television channels, newspapers, websites and magazines have been devoting him much extensive coverage.

His Sanremo winning entry has gone gold and is now targetting platinum. L’Essenziale is also charting high on spotify, iTunes and is among the most downloaded songs in Italy currently.

Marco”s Mengoni  new albume will be released by Sony Music Italy on 19 March.  The album has been produced by  Michele Canova and has been recorded in Milano and Madrid.

RAI, is yet to reveal the 2013 Italian Eurovision entry for Malmo. Will it be Marco’s Sanremo winning entry?

Who is Marco Mengoni?

Marco was born in 1985 in Italy and has been singing since the tender age of 14.Marco Mengoni shot to fame in 2009 when he won the 3rd season of the Italian version of the X Factor. The following year he competed at the 60th Sanremo Song Festival with the song Credimi Ancora, achieving a 3rd placing.  He has released a total of 4 albums. In 2010 Marco won the MTV Best Italian Act Award and the MTV Best European Act Award.

Italy debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest  in 1956 and was one of the founder members of the contest. The country has won the event 2 times in 1964 and 1990. Italy withdrew from the event in 1998 and returned back in 2011.
