Last night Alessio Gatti, the son of Franco, member of the group Ricchi e Poveri, who represented Italy in the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, suddenly died at the age of 23.

Ricchi e Poveri, who should have performed tonight in the Sanremo Italian Song Festival as guest stars, will most likely not sing in the show, due to the tragic incident.

The shocking news was announced today by Fabio Fazio, co-host of the Festival together with Luciana Littizzetto, during the press conference held at the Teatro Ariston.

We at esctoday.com would like to express our deepest condolences to the singer and his family.
