The city of Burgas, Bulgaria, is making headlines as its municipality proposes a prominent location for the Eurovillage in connection with the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. The suggested site is the area of the former Magaziya 7, situated within the Burgas-East 1 port terminal. This announcement comes amidst discussions surrounding Bulgaria’s potential involvement with the 2027 contest.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov officially revealed the proposal following a meeting with a government minister. The former Magaziya 7, a well-known area in the port terminal, is seen as an ideal spot to host the vibrant Eurovillage, which serves as the official fan zone during the Eurovision Song Contest.
Bulgaria’s Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Peev visited Burgas and met up with the Mayor of Burgas .
Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov says:
We discussed the requirements it must meet. A commitment has been made to clean and prepare the place in a short time so that representatives of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) can approve the location.
BTA’s press release reads:
The provision of access from the area of the railway station, the “South” bus station and the port to the public access area was also discussed, Nikolov pointed out. According to him, the location is suitable due to its proximity to the central city area, transport hubs and the Sea Garden. “This would facilitate the movement of visitors and the organization of public transport in the city,” the mayor of Burgas pointed out.
According to him, the teams are currently working on the vision of the zone, and after preparing the final version, it will be presented to the organizers.
Warehouse 7 is a former port warehouse on the territory of the port terminal “Burgas-East 1”. The building was among the old and heavily depreciated buildings of the State Port – Burgas and was demolished under a procedure of the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure”, announced at the end of last year. It is planned that the already vacated areas will become an extension of the Public Access Zone by the sea.
This Eurovision Village typically features live performances, public screenings, food stalls, and various fan activities, creating a central hub for delegates, press, and fans throughout the event. The proactive step by the Burgas Municipality highlights the city’s ambition and readiness to potentially play a significant role in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. While further details regarding Bulgaria’s official involvement with Eurovision 2027 are anticipated, the proposal of a Eurovillage location marks a concrete step in the city’s preparations.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2027 is scheduled to be held on 11,13 and 15 May at the Arena Burgas in Burgas, Bulgaria.
