Swedish Eurovision star Sanna Nielsen has delighted fans with the release of her brand new single, a captivating cover of Belinda Carlisle’s iconic hit, ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’. The release marks a special moment for Nielsen, coinciding with her 30th anniversary as an artist. This latest offering showcases her powerful vocals on a track that holds deep personal significance for the singer.

Sanne Nielsen’s Nostalgic Release

Sanna Nielsen, a beloved figure in the Eurovision community, has unveiled her interpretation of the classic 1987 hit ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth‘. The song, originally popularised by Belinda Carlisle, was released on 25 June 2026 and is produced by Jimmy Jansson. Nielsen shared that this particular song holds a special place in her heart, reflecting on her childhood and the beginnings of her musical journey.

Reflecting on the release, Sanna stated:

I am celebrating my thirtieth anniversary as an artist this year and look back on so many wonderful memories and experiences. Getting to do my version of ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’ is a look back at my entire upbringing and the beginning of my interest in music. It was the song I always played when I stood in my pink girl’s room in front of the mirror and imitated the English language as best I could. I was overjoyed when the song appeared on the MR Music albums and also had a singback version so I could sing along to just the music. Now I have my own version, a few decades later, and the little girl in me couldn’t be happier to take the song out of the pink girl’s room and onto beautiful stages around the country.

This heartfelt connection to the song promises a rendition filled with genuine emotion and passion.

A Eurovision Veteran’s Continuing Journey

Sanna Nielsen is no stranger to the Eurovision stage, having famously represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with her powerful ballad ‘Undo‘. She achieved an impressive third place in the Grand Final, cementing her status as a fan favourite. Her journey to Eurovision glory included eight participations in Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s national selection, before her triumphant win.

Her enduring impact on Swedish music and Melodifestivalen was further recognised in 2025 when she was inducted into the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame. Earlier this year, Nielsen made another return to Melodifestivalen, showcasing her continued presence and popularity in the competition. With ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’, Sanne Nielsen continues to enchant audiences, celebrating her illustrious career while bringing a fresh perspective to a timeless classic.
