Milena Milotinova, Director General of Bulgarian National Television (BNT), has officially received the ‘Host Welcome Pack’ from Martin Green CBE (Eurovision Director) on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). This significant handover marks a crucial step in Bulgaria’s preparations to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, following Dara’s historic victory in 2026. The ceremony underscores the close collaboration between BNT and the EBU as they embark on organising the 71st edition of the world’s biggest live music event.

Following Bulgaria’s triumph at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna with Dara and her song ‘Bangaranga’, the focus has now shifted to the monumental task of hosting the next edition. The formal handover of the ‘Host Welcome Pack’ to BNT Director General Milena Milotinova signifies the official commencement of preparations for Eurovision 2027.

Martin Green CBE (Eurovision Director/ EBU) did the honours of officially handing the ‘Eurovision Host Welcome Pack’ to BNT’s General Director Milena Milotinova.

Martin Green CBE (Eurovision Director) says:

Congratulations to DARA, BNT and Bulgaria on the victory. You are now officially the host of Eurovision 2027,

The ‘Host Welcome Pack’ contains comprehensive guidelines, requirements, and essential information from the EBU, designed to assist the host broadcaster in planning and executing the complex event. This includes details ranging from venue specifications and logistical planning to broadcast standards and security protocols.

BNT is already in full swing with the organisational process. The Bulgarian government has established a dedicated Organising Committee to coordinate all preparations for Eurovision 2027, with Milena Milotinova also serving as a key member. This committee is tasked with ensuring smooth operations and seamless cooperation between various national institutions.

Host City Selection Underway

The race to find Bulgaria’s host city for Eurovision 2027 is actively progressing. BNT has held initial meetings with four cities that have expressed keen interest in hosting the prestigious contest: Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas. During these meetings, BNT and EBU representatives, including EBU Event and Security Manager Andreas Schmidt, presented the stringent requirements and technical specifications that potential host cities must meet.

Milena Milotinova has emphasised that BNT is not merely looking for a venue, but a ‘partner city’ that will be fully committed to the extensive, year-long preparatory process. The final decision on the host city is anticipated by the end of July, a crucial step that will allow the chosen municipality to initiate necessary public procurements swiftly.

Bulgaria’s hosting of Eurovision 2027 marks a historic moment for the nation, and BNT, with the full support of the government and the EBU, is dedicated to delivering a spectacular and memorable edition of the contest.
