Following Bulgaria’s historic victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, the national broadcaster BNT has wasted no time in commencing preparations for hosting the 2027 edition. BNT Director General Milena Milotinova and Minister of Culture Evtim Miloshev held their first operational meeting today, focusing on the monumental task ahead.

Bulgaria Kicks Off Eurovision 2027 Hosting Preparations

Bulgaria is gearing up to host the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in its history in 2027, following Dara’s triumphant win with ‘Bangaranga’ at Eurovision 2026. The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) Director General, Milena Milotinova, and the Minister of Culture, Evtim Miloshev, convened for their initial operational meeting today to discuss the organisation of the upcoming contest.

The meeting signifies the immediate commencement of preparations, with Milena Milotinova having previously expressed BNT’s readiness to host the event in Sofia. Minister Miloshev also confirmed that the Council of Ministers is set to establish an organisational structure this week to oversee the extensive preparations required for such a large-scale international event.

During the meeting, Minister Miloshev committed that this week the Council of Ministers, together with BNT, will begin the creation of an organization for the hosting of Bulgaria and the support of public television as the main organizer of the hosting of Eurovision. It is planned to include all institutions and departments related to the holding of the international song contest in Bulgaria This process will include choosing a venue, determining financing, logistics, financing, marketing and advertising, television realization, organization of accompanying events, tourist infrastructure and many others.

Milena Milotinova ( BNT General Director) says:

Winning Eurovision obliges us to build on it. We have to perform at a high level during the hosting and BNT will rely on all institutions that can help. That’s why I started the talks on Sunday by phone from Vienna, along with accepting the congratulations on the victory.

Bulgaria’s Minister of Culture Evtim Miloshev says:

Work on this large-scale activity should begin as soon as possible

Discussions are expected to include the selection of the host city, with several Bulgarian cities already expressing strong interest. Sofia, Burgas, Plovdiv, and Varna have all put forward their desire to welcome Europe for Eurovision 2027. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will ultimately make the final decision based on specific venue capacity and logistical requirements.
