Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has announced he will organise a meeting with several key ministers to discuss the country’s preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest. This high-level government involvement signals a significant focus on Bulgaria’s future participation in the competition.
Prime Minister Rumen Radev revealed today that he is taking a direct interest in Bulgaria’s involvement with the Eurovision Song Contest. He plans to bring together relevant government ministers to hold discussions specifically on the nation’s preparations for the popular European music event.
While specific details regarding the agenda of the meeting or which edition of Eurovision the discussions will pertain to remain under wraps, the Prime Minister’s initiative highlights the importance placed on the contest at the highest levels of Bulgarian government. This move could indicate strategic planning for future participation, potential hosting aspirations, or a re-evaluation of the country’s approach to the competition.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Rumen Radev says:
For Eurovision – a huge success for Bulgaria, once again congratulations to DARA for the professionalism, for the dedication, for the talent, to BNT, to the entire team. This week I will invite them all to the Council of Ministers with relevant ministers, so that we can specify from now on what funds will be needed for preparations for next year and how to organize this preparation so that Bulgaria presents itself with dignity, because for us this is a huge chance in many directions.
Bulgaria has a mixed history at Eurovision, with notable successes and periods of withdrawal. This upcoming meeting could mark a new chapter in the country’s Eurovision journey, with a concerted effort to enhance its presence and performance on the international stage.
DARA was declared the winner of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with her entry ‘Bangaranga’, thus giving Bulgaria its very first Eurovision triumph.
