The Eurovision Village on Rathausplatz in Vienna was evacuated on Monday evening due to safety concerns. Heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and hail necessitated the immediate clearance of the area. All further scheduled programme points for Monday were subsequently cancelled.

The highly anticipated Eurovision Village in Vienna, a central hub for fans during the Eurovision Song Contest week, experienced an unexpected closure on Monday evening. Located at the iconic Rathausplatz, the fan zone was evacuated as a precautionary measure due to adverse weather conditions.

Organisers took swift action following a severe weather front that brought strong rain, high winds, thunderstorms, and hail to the Austrian capital. The decision was made to ensure the safety of all attendees, leading to the immediate clearance of the premises.

As a direct consequence of the evacuation, all remaining programme items scheduled for Monday at the Eurovision Village were regretfully cancelled. This includes various live performances, screenings, and fan activities that were planned to entertain the thousands of Eurovision enthusiasts gathered in Vienna.

Fans are advised to stay updated with official announcements regarding the reopening of the Eurovision Village and any changes to the schedule for the remainder of the Eurovision week. The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is taking place in Vienna, with semi-finals on May 12th and 14th, and the Grand Final on May 16th.
