Only a few more days and we will have the full picture of the 2025 Eurovision class. As Eurofans prepare for the last couple of Super Saturdays with competitions across the continent, host country Switzerland is gearing up for the big reveal of their act for Basel. Swiss-German media Tages Anzeiger has released today a possible name.

Switzerland will reveal on Monday 10 March 2025 at 10.00 CET the representative of the Alpine country at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest on home soil. The Swiss delegation will present the artist(s) during a press conference set to last twenty minutes. Time is money, huh. During the very same occasion representatives of the media will also discover the music video of the Swiss entry.

Switzerland is once again choosing its Eurovision representative through an internal selection. During an open submission window SRF received 431 songs vying to represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2025.

Is this the one?

Swiss-German media Tages Anzeiger is speculating today in an article about the name of the possible 2025 Swiss act. To Athena, a 30 year-old musician from Lucerne, is rumoured to be the chosen one. She is listed as guest of the talk show SRF Focus in the evening of 10 March, indicating a possible follow-up to her reveal the same morning.

To Athena is a known name of the Swiss musical scene, having received a Swiss Music Award in 2023. She often mix Swiss-German dialect with English. It could be the first time that Switzerland brings a Swiss-German dialect to the Eurovision stage. Switzerland has sung in all four national languages plus English in 64 appearances, but never in a regional dialect.

The last time Switzerland hosted the contest in 1989, Romansch made its appearence on the list of Eurovision languages. That year Furbaz sang in Lausanne the title Viver senza tei, reaching the 13th place with 47 points.

As host country Switzerland is directly qualified to the Grand Final of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday 17 May 2025 in Basel. The city in the North-West of Switzerland has won the internal selection to host the 69th Eurovision defeating fellow cities Zurich, Geneva and Bern-Biel. St. Jakobshalle is the venue chosen to host this year’s event.
