TVM, the Maltese national broadcaster, has unveiled today that Miriana Conte’s Eurovision entry has been censored by the EBU for using the word ‘Kant’.
The 2025 Maltese Eurovision hopeful, Miriana Conte, is dissapointed that her Eurovision entry has been censored by the EBU for containing the word ‘Kant’.
Miriana Conte posted the following statement via her official instagram account:
Currently filming the official ‘KANT’ music video, literally living my best life. We’ve just been notified that @ebu_hq has decided against using the Maltese word ‘Kant’ in our entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. While I’m shocked and disappointed, especially since we have less than a week to submit the song, I promise you this: the show will go on — Diva NOT down.
Earlier the EBU’s Reference Group had approved the use of the word ‘Kant’ in the Maltese Eurovision 2025 entry after a report submitted by an EBU member. Now the EBU has requested PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster to change the title of the 2025 Eurovision entry and remove the word ‘Kant’ entirely from the song.
PBS has to make a final decision regarding this matter in the coming 2 days before the official EBU’s submission deadline which has been set on 10 March, the Maltese national broadcaster is looking into the matter and evaluating all options.
Miriana Conte won the 2025 Maltese national final with her entry ‘KANT’.
