Suspilne, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, has received a total of 374 songs for the upcoming Ukrainian national final- Vidbir 2025.
Ukraine is gearing up for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest and is working from strength to strength to organize an exiciting and entertaining national final. A total of 10 acts will be battle for the golden ticket to Basel at Vidbir 2025.
Suspilne has received 374 applications for Vidbir 2025, now the Ukrainian national broadcaster will evaluate all the submitted entries and will shortlist them to 20 entries for the longlist. The competing acts will have to undergo a live audition, hereafter Suspilne will shortlist the potential acts to nine by 20 December 2024.
A tenth act will be determined by the Ukrainian public via online voting (the remaining 11 acts will be battling for the tenth slot in the national final). The full list of Vidbir 2025 finalists will be published by 17 January 2025.
The Ukrainian national final aka Vidbir 2025 is scheduled to be held in February in Kyiv with a total of 10 acts battling for the right to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2025. The 2025 Ukrainian Eurovision entry and act will be determined via a combined jury/public voting deliberation.
Suspilne’s official press release reads:
Public Broadcasting received 369 applications for participation in the National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest – 2025. During the acceptance of applications, which lasted from September 17 to November 10, 374 songs were received (some artists submitted more than one song).
In total , 232 solo performers and 72 bands applied for the National Selection . Also this year, applications were received from abroad – from Sweden, Germany, Poland, USA, France, Spain, Great Britain.
Based on the results of the preliminary selection, a longlist of participants who will continue to participate in the National Selection will be formed. The list will include up to 20 artists who must audition and participate in person.
By December 20, the list of finalists of the National Selection, which will include up to 9 performers, will be chosen based on the results of the auditions. Among the participants of the longlist who do not make it to the list of finalists, a ranking online vote will be held, it will determine another participant of the final. The full list of finalists will be published by January 17, 2025 .
The final of the National Selection will take place in February 2025, where the winner of the National Selection will traditionally be determined by the results of the votes of the audience and the jury.
