That’s pleasant news! Brian Kennedy, the Irish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, has revealed that he has fully recovered after a 3-year battle with cancer.

Brian is a winner in life

Once again, it’s proven that health is undoubtedly the most important thing in life. Reportedly with the newspaper Irish Mirror, it was back in 2016 when the singer Brian Kennedy was diagnosed with cancer. Thus, a long and hard fight was meant to start for him and his family.

But the power of will is huge. The Belfast-born artist seems to have been motivated enough to overcome this hurdle and win his life back. And he made it. Following a complicated surgery earlier this year, as well as his last chemotherapy session in early June, he recently received his latest scan results and their pleasant diagnosis!

“It seems to all have been worth it!”

Having already gone public with his serious health issue, Brian now wanted to share the good news with his fans and followers and say a big thank you to all those who were on his side during that tough time. In fact, he couldn’t also hide his impatience to get again on stage:

So, I am Very Proud to officially announce that I had my Scan results yesterday and I Completely Clear, normal and NO CANCER present!

Thanks to Dr Gallagher and the oncology team. I know it’s the first of many checkups to keep an eye on everything but I’m thrilled to share GOOD NEWS for a change. It’s almost 3 years since original diagnosis. What a journey it’s been from St Vincent’s to St James to St Marks and now back home to St James. My life will never be the same but I am alive and so grateful for that. Today is the Freshest of starts.

Thanks everyone who posted support here and came to the shows to tell me your kindness in person. You know who you are and who you aren’t. See you at the upcoming shows. Onwards and upwards from a very relieved 52 & a Half year old. It seems to all have been worth it.

BK x

Brian Kennedy at Eurovision

Brian Kennedy was internally selected to defend the Irish colours at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, which took place in Athens, Greece. At a special edition of the timeless The Late Late Show, where he sang 3 candidate songs, the Irish public decided that Brian would appear with the ballad Every song is a cry for love on the Eurovision stage, which was a composition of the singer himself.

At the contest’s semi-final, he was honored to compete with the 1,000th entry ever performed at Eurovision. He managed to go through to the final, where he subsequently finished 10th with 93 points. This is the second best result for Ireland in the current millennium, after Jedward’s 8th place in 2011.

Here at ESCToday, we would like to convey our warmest wishes to Brian Kennedy for the best of health and happiness from now on in his life!
